Minimum swimming ability and your health information
For your safety and enjoyment we require a minimum level of personal fitness and swimming ability for all participants in our events. We provide non-competitive guided swimming activities. None of the advertised activities are designed to be used for performance training or as strenuous exercise and should not be considered as such. The usual swim stroke required is breaststroke. Not all swims are suitable for front crawl/freestyle swimming and we will advise at the point of booking if this is the case.
When making a booking you are agreeing to meet the the following activity prerequisites.

Participants must be able to swim, our events are not swimming lessons.

You have taken part in swimming activities (indoor or outdoor) in the last 6 months.

You can tread water for 5 minutes.

You can swim unaided for at least 50m using any stroke. For all other sessions it is 100m.

You can swim out of your depth in a calm and controlled manner.

You can don and remove swimwear and clothes without any assistance.

You ca walk on uneven (but not steep) ground. Our events take place in the Lake District and it should be assumed walking will be on off-road surfaces. Distance and ascent is listed for all events where relevant.

You can walk at least 3km on a beginner session and 5km on all other sessions at a relaxed social pace (ie strolling and chatting pace).

You can carry a rucksack or swim bag containing all swim equipment, food and drinks, warm clothes, and other personal items.
If you do not meet all of this criteria please check with us before booking as we may still be able to accommodate you or offer an alternative.
Beginner Sessions
Unless explicitly stated, our beginner sessions are not swimming lessons. You must already be able to swim in order to take part. We offer beginner sessions for people who can already swim and who would like to learn essentials skills and technique for wild and open water swimming. Your health and medical conditions

It is assumed that all participants are fit and healthy in order to take part in the advertised activity.

Any pre-existing medical conditions or relevant medical history must be declared when making a booking.

The details of any regular medication you take must be declared.

We require this information to enable us to risk assess your participation and make any necessary adjustments.

Failure to disclose medical conditions or relevant medical history that may subsequently pose an issue during the session not only puts the client at risk but also affects the rest of the group.

Failure to disclose medical conditions or relevant medical history invalidates the terms and conditions of your booking.

If we have to terminate your booking due to a medical condition you had not declared, or you do not meet the minimum ability requirement we will not be able to refund any money you have paid, or any additional independant costs incurred.
