About the event

Come and see Eskdale in all its autumnal glory on this low level wander, tracing the river Esk along the valley floor.

We start off with a trip on La'al Ratty, surely the best way to start any walk, and then alight for our first section of the walk and our first swim. From here, we will be walking for the rest of the day on a gentle path with no steep climbs. So if you like gentle walks this is the one for you! The pace on this walk is relaxed to allow for slower speeds. There are two river swims - both optional. Do one or both! We stop for a picnic lunch and there will be an opportunity for a cafe or pub stop at the end of the walk.

Swimmers should be acclimatised to cold water - rivers run colder than lakes and larger bodies of water. Please check with me before booking if you have any concerns. Wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers are welcome. You should be confident swimming out of your depth and you must be able to tread water. The swim is best suited to dippers and bobbers swimming breaststroke, not suitable for swimming front crawl.

A packing list and full joining instructions will be sent after booking.

This event is dog friendly, dogs must be on a lead at all times and must be secured whilst we swim. If you would like to bring your dog you must let me know at the point of booking.
