Eskdale Wild Swimming Walk

Swim in the Lake District's cleanest and purest water in the remote valley of Eskdale.

This wild swimming walk takes in the highlights of the valley, which is full of hidden river pools, woodland walks, and incredible mountain scenery. It doesn't get better than Eskdale.

Although the route on the day depends on the forecast, you can expect there to be some uphill hiking as well as valley level walking. You should be comfortable walking on upland terrain and carrying a backpack with everything you need for the day. The overall walking distance does not exceed 5 miles and the height gained does not reach above 700ft.

There are usually two swims or dips, You should be comfortable swimming out of your depth, and able to swim breaststroke and tread water.

We have a picnic lunch (bring your own) and we might also call in at a pub or café.
