Full Moon Night Swim
Experience the thrill of a cold full moon swim. February is a Snow Moon and potentially the coldest swim of the year… so we have a fire and delicious lentil dhal to warm you up afterwards.
Time & Location
23 Feb 2024, 18:30 – 21:00
Ambleside, Ambleside LA22, UK
About the event
February’s Snow Moon is thought to be the coldest moon of the year thanks to its calendar position towards the end of winter and being furthest away from the end of the previous summer. Brrrr! We take to the water by moonlight (hopefully) to gaze at the night sky… and if it’s too cloudy to see the stars the lakeshore illuminations of Ambleside with certainly make up for it. To combat the chill, share a mug of our specialty lentil dhal served around the firepit after your swim.
On a night swim like this, we don’t swim round a course but stay within a defined area. Time in the water is dictated by the conditions and overall group ability.
This session is guided by insured and qualified guides, and is suitable for swimmers with prior outdoor swimming experience who are acclimatised for seasonal temperatures.
Need to Know
- Minimum swimming experience and acclimation applies.
- Breaststroke swimming, not suitable for front crawl.
- Prior night swimming experience is helpful but not essential.
- Short flat walk from meeting point to swim location.
