Gentle Buttermere

Ease yourself into longer swims as the lakes start to “warm” up with this not quite full length of Buttermere.

It’s a linear swim of just over a kilometre and you will need a swim bag to carry your clothes and shoes. Size 35L or bigger is recommended and a kit list will be emailed in advance. Bags are available to hire.

The swim is ideally suited to breaststroke swimmers and will be led at a gentle pace. You are welcome to swim crawl if this is your preferred stroke. You should be able to swim a minimum distance of 500m and tread water comfortably. This swim is not suitable for complete beginners nor is it suitable for competitive swimmers seeking a training swim. Please ensure you are suitably acclimatised.

Experienced skins swimmers are welcome. Equipment hire is available with prior notice.

After the swim please join me for breakfast in the village. This is optional and not included in the price.

Friends and family are welcome to walk alongside and spectate. Dogs are welcome providing you have someone on shore who can watch then during the swim.

Places must be booked in advance and you will be sent a confirmation email along with payment details.
