Get Ready For Winter Swimming!

The key to swimming wild in winter is starting early. This winter swimming workshop is a stepping stone from the autumnal waters of October to colder conditions. It’s suitable for wetsuit swimmers, swimmers wishing to move from wetsuit to skins, and everyone in-between! Learn how to tackle winter water safely and with confidence, enter winter competitions, or take daily dips. 

Don't let the cooler weather stop you. This in-depth session looks at swimming through your first winter, and is suitable for open water swimmers experienced with swimming in warmer months.

The full day includes both classroom learning and practical sessions in the water. You'll learn all you need to know to safely and confidently swim throughout winter, whether there are clear blue skies, lashing rains, or ice on the water.

This session takes place in Buttermere and all equipment is provided should you need it. 

The session will include

• How to safely access winter water
• What you might need to wear, or not need
• How to plan for different weather conditions
• Safety considerations for swimmers and onlookers

There are two swims and two short walks (no more than a mile) during the course of the day, as well as a classroom session that takes place in Buttermere Old School. We have warm dry facilities for warming up post-swim. Refreshments are included, though you will need to bring your own suitable packed lunch.
