About the event
If you've always wanted to give wild swimming a try but aren't sure where to begin, then this session is for you. Jam-packed with practical advice, this quick-start introduction to wild swimming is designed to give you all the information to safely and confidently start swimming outdoors.
Spaces are limited to keep the group small, which will allow plenty of opportunity for all students to ask questions and get the information they need. You must be able to swim already: this is not a swimming lesson.
This session is most suitable for first time wild swimmers who have no prior outdoor swimming experience, or very minimal outdoor experience. In this type of session we usually swim breaststroke, and you must be able to tread water. If you already train in a pool and swim distances above 1km please check with me before booking.
There will be a short walk down to the lake and you will need to carry everything you need for swimming. The walk is partly on a compacted stone path and lakeshore. It may be muddy in places.
All equipment is included should you need it, including wetsuits to fit up to 21 stone or dress size 24/26. Sizing is done in advance and a packing list will be sent to you after booking. Light refreshments are provided. My dog, Bertie, will be on this session however due to the learning nature of the session it is not suitable for other dogs to attend.
